Pune, 25th March 2025: The police investigation into the Swargate Bus Depot Rape Case remains incomplete as the DNA report of accused Dattatray Gade is still pending. Authorities are awaiting the forensic results to finalize the chargesheet against Gade, who allegedly raped a 26-year-old woman inside a stationary bus at the Swargate State Transport (ST) depot on February 25.

The incident occurred when Gade, posing as a bus conductor, lured the victim into an empty Shivshahi bus and assaulted her before fleeing. After a three-day manhunt involving drones and sniffer dogs, Gade was arrested from a sugarcane field in Gunat village. The survivor’s statement has been recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, and police have collected technical and forensic evidence, including Gade’s clothes.

Despite these efforts, the absence of the DNA report has delayed progress in filing the chargesheet. Officials confirm that once the report is received, it will strengthen their case. Meanwhile, Pune Police have sought the appointment of a special public prosecutor to ensure a robust legal process.
