Pune: DoRBit Foundation team walks 5 KMs for social cause

Pune, 22nd September 2022: On the 17th of September, the DoRBit Foundation NGO successfully conducted a WalkABit event. It was a 5 km walkathon held in the Maan area, within the Mulshi Taluka of Pune.

The route for the walkathon was worked out such that four institutes- New English High School, Maan, Mahatma Phule Apang Prashikshan Kendra, Maan Zilha Parishad School (Gawarewadi), and Zila Parishad Primary School (Bhoirwadi)- in the order of writing, served as the walk’s four milestones.

At 7.15 AM in the morning, Chief guest Dr. Vivek Muglikar (Sr. police inspector, Hinjawadi police station), Indrajit Roy, director of the DoRBit Foundation NGO, and his accompanying group of senior citizens (Chaitanya group of Melange) graced the occasion and kicked off the event by cutting the ribbon.

At Mahatma Phule Apang Prashikshan Kendra (MPAPK), the procession was received with grandeur and warmth from the centre’s residents and other authorities. The young residents of the centre also presented an earnest and moving skit for the participants of the initiative. All the participants walked with grit, in unison, to the Maan Zilha Parishad School in Gavarewadi. After a brief interaction with school children of Gavarewadi, the procession arrived at the fourth milestone institute, the Zila Parishad Primary School in Bhoirwadi. The event formally came to an end in Bhoirwadi.

The closing ceremony at Bhoirwadi was graced by the presence of Gaon sr. leader Nand Kishore Bhoir, NGO founder Vipin Mohit Shrivastava,

HEART group president Dnyanendra Hulsure, SMC committee (Vishwanath Bhoir, Dnyaneshwar Sawant, Atmaram Bhoir,Shankar Bhoir, Rameshwar Zuluk).

DoRBit Foundation had organized the WalkAbit initiative – a walkathon for raising funds for the four projects – 1) Your Career (wholistic aid to deserving underprivileged students towards higher/ professional education), 2) Your Book (end-to-end set up of school libraries), 3) Helping MPAPK by the provision of teaching/ learning/ mobility aids, 4) Enhancing infrastructure at ZP/ government schools. The foundation would soon share a detailed donation distribution plan with all the donors for each of the projects.

DoRBit Foundation had received immense support from all schools and expressed their gratitude towards principals/headmasters of all 4 schools – Ambadas Rode(New English High School, Maan) Sir, Ganesh Jagtap Sir(Mahatma Phule Apang Prashikshan Kendra, Maan), Raju Gaware Sir, Prajakta Ranjne Madam and Milind Tathe sir (Zilha Parishad School, Gawarewadi), Rameshwar Zuluk Sir(Zila Parishad Primary School, Bhoirwadi).

While the WalkAbit initiative was primarily focused on participants from Pune, it was also widely supported worldwide by participants across the globe. Rakho Sahoo, Amit Sharma, Naina Ramnani, Neha Shukla, Teena Lamror, Rahul Tilak, Prachi Pandit, Snehal and Suhas Maske showed their support to the cause by walking 5 KM locally and posting a selfie on social media.
