Pune: DPR Approved For 32-km Ravet–Narhe Elevated Corridor, Says Nitin Gadkari; Work to Begin Soon
Pune, 18th July 2026: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday announced the approval of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed 32-km Ravet–Narhe Elevated Corridor, estimated to cost around Rs 6,000 crore, a move expected to provide major relief to traffic congestion in Pimpri Chinchwad, Hinjawadi IT Park and western Pune.
Gadkari made the announcement during the foundation-laying ceremony of the Pune–Shirur Elevated Highway, the Talegaon–Chakan–Shikrapur Corridor and the Hadapsar–Yavat Elevated Corridor in Pune, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap said the approval came after his sustained follow-up with the state and central governments. He said he had strongly raised the demand for the elevated corridor during the Maharashtra Legislature session on March 23, 2026, pointing to the growing traffic congestion on the Pune–Bengaluru National Highway, the rising number of vehicles heading to Hinjawadi IT Park and the rapid urban expansion of Pimpri Chinchwad.
“The project has now received the necessary approval and work is expected to begin soon. It will be a major boost to the region’s transport infrastructure and provide much-needed relief to commuters,” Jagtap said.
The proposed corridor, stretching from Ravet to Narhe, is expected to significantly improve traffic flow for commuters travelling through Wakad, Tathawade, Punawale, Ravet, Kiwale, Balewadi, Baner, Sus and Bavdhan, while also benefiting residents of Man, Marunji, Nere, Jambe and Kasarsai. It is aimed at decongesting the Mumbai–Bengaluru National Highway by offering an alternative elevated route, reducing travel time for thousands of daily commuters, particularly those travelling to and from Hinjawadi IT Park.
Jagtap said the project, estimated to cost around Rs 6,000 crore, would strengthen connectivity between Pimpri Chinchwad and western Pune, improve road safety and facilitate smoother movement of vehicles on one of the state’s busiest highway corridors. He added that the ambitious infrastructure project is being implemented through coordination between the state and central governments and that the remaining administrative procedures will be completed before construction begins.
