Pune: Dr Ghaisas Placed Under Police Protection After Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital Controversy
Erandwane, 17th April 2025: Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas has been placed under police protection after stepping down from his position at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, following allegations of delayed medical care that reportedly led to the death of a pregnant woman.
The deceased, Ishwari (Tanisha) Bhise, allegedly died due to a delay in receiving treatment at the hospital. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and prompted multiple official inquiries.
Reports on the incident have been submitted to the state government by the State Health Department, the Office of the Charity Commissioner in Pune, and the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Maternal Mortality Cell. Additionally, a review report from Sassoon General Hospital’s committee has been forwarded to the medical authorities.
Amid the backlash, a hospital run by Dr. Ghaisas’s family was vandalized. In view of potential threats and rising tensions, the police have provided protection to Dr. Ghaisas while the investigation is underway.
