Pune: Dr KH Sancheti To Perform Last Surgery On 85th Birthday; Has Done More Than 55,000 Surgeries

Pune, 23 July 2021: Founder President of Sancheti Hospital and Padma Vibhushan Dr. K.H Sancheti, on the joyous occasion of his 85th birthday, will be doing his last surgery. On this occasion, he will be performing his favorite Hip Replacement Surgery. Dr. K.H Sancheti will still continue taking OPDs and consultations going forward. He will also focus on the development of the state of the art new Hospital.
 
After over 55,000 surgeries, Dr. K H Sancheti, who invented India’s first indigenous knee implant, will perform the last surgery tomorrow. “Since the hospital was set up in 1965, I have been working continuously. I will perform my favourite Hip Replacement Surgery tomorrow and I will officially retire from my surgical practice. But, I will continue looking after patients through OPD’s. I will also be looking after administrative work and work related to the ongoing construction work of the new hospital building.”
 
Dr. Sancheti has been awarded the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan.


Dr. Parag Sancheti, the Chairman and Managing Director of Sancheti Hospital, said, “For all these years, my father never stopped working and he has performed over 55,000 surgeries now. He is our Inspiration & Guiding force.  I thank him for creating a strong foundation for us. I look forward to his continued inputs to creating healthier communities and take forward his legacy.
 
The renowned pioneer in the field of orthopedics, Dr. K H Sancheti mentioned that these days he is keeping himself busy in many different ways. “I exercise daily, which includes walking three kilometers a day. I have kept myself busy with research work and I am also writing a book.”
