Pune: Driver Attempts To Run Over Cops After Injuring Youth Near Chakan, Case Registered
Khed, 24th September 2026: A 29-year-old man allegedly attempted to run over police personnel who tried to stop his car after he injured a youth while driving recklessly at Vadgaon Ghenand, near Chakan in Khed taluka on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place around 12.30pm on September 21. The accused, identified as Sukhdev Hanumant Naik, 29, of Miraj taluka in Sangli district, was arrested by police.
According to the complaint filed by police constable Niroj Razzaq Shaikh, 41, attached to the South Chakan police station, Naik was driving a four-wheeler rashly and hit multiple vehicles. In the process, Avinash Govind More, 20, of Medankarwadi, was injured.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, Naik allegedly drove it towards the policemen, apparently attempting to run them over. The policemen managed to move aside in time and escaped injury.
Naik then allegedly rammed the vehicle into a government vehicle. Police subsequently arrested him and registered a case in connection with the incident.
