Pune: Drunk Driver Collides with Autorickshaw on Porwal Road, Leaving Several Injured
Lohegaon, 17th June 2024: In a harrowing incident on Porwal Road in Dhanori, a drunk driver crashed his vehicle into a stationary autorickshaw around 12:30 AM. The collision inflicted serious injuries on the passengers and the rickshaw driver, necessitating urgent hospitalization.
The autorickshaw, carrying the driver and some family members who had stopped for ice cream, was rear-ended by a speeding car. The impact caused severe injuries to two individuals, including the rickshaw driver, who were rushed to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, their condition is reported as stable, and medical treatment is ongoing.
Local residents are now demanding immediate measures to improve safety on Porwal Road, including the installation of speed breakers and enhanced nighttime police patrols. They pointed out that the area around Dhanori Jakatnaka, particularly near Vimantal police jurisdiction, sees significant traffic even during late hours due to numerous food outlets operating all night. Concerns have also been raised about reckless driving and loud disturbances caused by vehicles with modified exhaust systems.
