Pune: Elderly Woman And Son Succumb To Suicide In Fursungi, Had Survived Earlier Attempt
Fursungi, 27th June 2023: A woman and a child tragically took their own lives by consuming poison in the Bhosle Village society located in the Fursungi area of Pune.
The unfortunate turn of events follows a previous suicide attempt in May, where the husband, wife, and son resorted to poison due to their ongoing battle with depression. The husband did not survive the treatment process.
On Monday (June 26) of the woman and child’s suicide, which occurred shortly after their discharge from the hospital.
The victims have been identified as Janabai Suryaprakash Abnave, aged 60, and Chetan Suryaprakash Abnave, aged 41. On May 22, Janabai’s husband, Suryaprakash Harishchandra Abnave, aged 70 and a resident of Lakshmi Niwas in Fursungi, alongside Janabai and Chetan, made a desperate attempt on their lives by consuming poison. All three were admitted to Sassoon Hospital.
Suryaprakash could not be saved, while Janabai and Chetan were discharged after receiving medical care. The two individuals made a subsequent suicide attempt on Monday, ingesting poisonous substances. Both were rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away before receiving further treatment.
Chetan had gone through a divorce and was currently unemployed. The family’s devastating circumstances, coupled with health issues, drove these three members to take such drastic measures, police suspect.
