Aundh, 22nd June 2026: Assuring action against encroachments on public footpaths in the Parihar Chowk area, corporator Sunny Vinayak Nimhan has taken up the issue with the Aundh-Baner Regional Office of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Nimhan met the Deputy Commissioner of the ward office on Monday and submitted a memorandum highlighting the growing inconvenience faced by residents due to encroachments on footpaths between Parihar Chowk and the Western Mall area in Ward No. 8.

According to the memorandum, footpaths in the area, which are meant for the safe use of pedestrians, senior citizens, women, students and local residents, are allegedly being occupied for residential and other purposes at several locations.

As a result, pedestrians are often forced to walk on the roads, creating traffic obstructions and increasing the risk of accidents.

Nimhan said the issue has been repeatedly raised by local residents, who have lodged several complaints regarding the encroachments. He stressed the need to keep public footpaths free from encroachments to ensure public convenience, maintain cleanliness and preserve order in the area.

Taking cognisance of the concerns raised, the Deputy Commissioner assured that the matter would be inspected on priority and that the concerned departments would initiate necessary action. The civic administration also assured that appropriate measures would be taken to address the inconvenience faced by citizens.
