Pune: Enraged Lover’s Desperate Search for ‘Partner’ Ends in Knife Attack on Two in Hinjawadi

Hinjawadi, 13th June 2025: A woman had eloped with her lover and started living with him. However, she eventually returned to her husband and resumed her “happy married life.” The enraged lover, unable to accept this, came back and demanded to know her whereabouts. When two individuals refused to disclose this information, he attacked them with a knife.

This incident took place in Hinjawadi Phase 2 on Thursday night. A 29-year-old resident of Phase 2 has filed a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station. A case of attempted murder has been registered against Nikhil (full name unknown), approximately 38 years old and a resident of Yavatmal.

According to sources, the woman, a resident of Hinjawadi, was involved in an extramarital affair with Nikhil, a colleague originally from Yavatmal. They both fled to Nikhil’s hometown and lived together for six to eight months. Eventually, the woman chose to return to her husband.

Disturbed by her decision, Nikhil began contacting the woman again, issuing threats to her and her husband through social media and phone calls. Around a week ago, the woman’s husband, who works in a company in Hinjawadi Phase 1, took her to their native village. Unable to reach them, Nikhil came to Hinjawadi and went to a location where he believed she lived.

There, he encountered the woman’s nephew, who is the complainant in the case. When the nephew refused to answer his questions, Nikhil stabbed him on the right side of his chest. Hearing his screams, the complainant’s brother, also the woman’s nephew, rushed to help and was stabbed in the stomach.

Both brothers sustained serious injuries. The accused, Nikhil, is still absconding. Police Sub-Inspector Kande is leading the investigation.
