Pune: Excellent Environment Practice Award for Amanora Township
Pune, 22nd October 2026: Amanora Township located at Hadapsar has been honoured with the Excellent Environment Practice Award, 2026 instituted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The award was presented to Amanora during the recent 13th edition of National Award for Environmental Best Practices 2026 held at Chennai. The award recognises Amanora’s sustained efforts to integrate environmental responsibility, resource efficiency and sustainable practices into the development and management of its integrated township. Amol Borate and Amit Saste from the Amanora team accepted the award.
The recognition is particularly significant given the scale of competition, with more than 125 companies and over 300 projects participating in the awards. Many leading organisations such as Tata Steel, GMR Hyderabad, Tata AutoComp and Kirloskar were among the participants, making the achievement a notable recognition of Amanora’s environmental initiatives.
Over the years, Amanora’s Environment Department has introduced a range of initiatives focused on responsible waste management, water conservation, renewable energy, green cover and innovative environmental solutions.
Amanora manages approximately 15,000 kg of solid waste every day through a system that emphasises segregation at source, treatment and recycling, with the objective of minimising waste sent to landfills. Mechanical composting was introduced to convert organic waste into a resource rather than allowing it to be discarded. Further strengthening this approach, the township’s biogas plant now processes 5,000 kg of organic waste daily, converting it into energy and supporting the principles of a circular economy.
Water conservation and reuse through its three sewage treatment plants, powered by solar energy, treat approximately 48 lakh litres of water every day resulting in less dependence on freshwater resources while promoting responsible water management.
Amanora’s commitment to environmental excellence is also reflected in its green spaces, which include medicinal gardens, organic plots and the Central Green along with the introduction of algae trees across the township in 2026. These installed algae trees are designed to capture approximately 1.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide and generate 1.2 tonnes of oxygen annually, adding an innovative dimension to the township’s efforts to address environmental challenges.
The CII National Award for Environmental Best Practices 2026 acknowledges Amanora’s long-term approach to environmental management and its efforts to combine urban development with resource conservation, waste reduction and ecological responsibility.
The award was received on behalf of Amanora by Amitkumar Saste, General Manager, Environment Dept, Amanora at a ceremony held in Chennai.
