Pune: Extensive Damage as Firefighters Fight for Hours to Control Blaze at Nigdi Scrap Shop; No Casualties Reported

Nigdi, 26th November 2023: A fire broke out at a scrap shop located in Ota Scheme (Sector No-27/A Pradhikaran), Nigdi, during the early hours of Sunday (26th). The incident was reported to the fire department at approximately 6:30 in the morning. Responding promptly, four fire engines from PCMC Main Fire Station, Pradhikaran, Thergaon, and Chikhli were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, flames were observed engulfing the scrap shop, leading to damage to nearby houses and shops in the vicinity.

 

Firefighters engaged in a rigorous two to three-hour effort to bring the blaze under control. Unfortunately, the scrap shop suffered extensive damage, being completely gutted in the process. The neighbouring salon shop and the residence of Shriyut Shinde also incurred damage due to the fire. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, providing a silver lining amidst the material losses.

 

While the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, initial speculations point towards a potential short circuit. The financial toll of the incident is estimated to be in the lakhs, adding to the challenges faced by the affected businesses and property owners. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to unravel the precise circumstances that led to the destructive fire in the scrap shop.
