Pune: Fatal Crash Kills Brother and Sister-in-Law; Driver Surrenders
Viman Nagar, 2nd January 2025: A fatal accident occurred near 509 Chowk on Airport Road, resulting in the deaths of a woman and a man.
The incident happened this morning at around 9 AM near ECHS Polyclinic near Sanjay Park, where there were no traffic signals. The deceased have been identified as Ashirwad Nagesh Govekar (52), and his sister-in-law, Reshmadevi Ramesh Govekar (52), of Dhanori .
Senior Police Inspector Ajay Sakeshwari, in charge of the Airport Police Station, provided details about the incident. He revealed that the two victims were related, with the woman being the sister-in-law of the man. According to Sr PI Sakeshwari, a driver in a Mahindra XUV700 collided with the duo on a two-wheeler from the side as they were trying to cross the road.
Sr PI Sakeshwari further stated that the car driver did not flee the scene and voluntarily reported to the Airport Police Station. The process of case registration is currently ongoing. The inspector also mentioned that the driver did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol.
