Pune, 14th October 2026: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday suspended the food licence of the Domino’s Pizza outlet in Warje, Pune, after an inspection found serious food safety and hygiene violations, including live cockroaches and dead cockroach remains in its kitchen and food storage areas.
The action against the outlet, operated by Jubilant FoodWorks Limited, followed an inspection by a food safety officer on October 13, according to a press note issued by the FDA’s Pune Division. The suspension took effect immediately on October 14, informed D Bhogawade, Joint Commissioner (Food), FDA, Pune Division.
The inspection was part of a special drive covering more than 25 Domino’s Pizza outlets in Pune. The FDA said significant deficiencies were also identified at two other outlets, against which adjudication proceedings would be initiated to seek penalties.
At the Warje outlet, officials reported inadequate segregation of equipment used to handle vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, incomplete temperature records for incoming food supplies, inadequate cleaning and sanitation, and unhygienic food storage.
The FDA also reported an unpleasant odour from a washroom situated in the dining area and the absence of prescribed identification cards for food delivery personnel.
Citing the seriousness of the findings, the administration suspended the outlet’s food licence, numbered 11521034000028.
The drive forms part of a wider campaign against unsafe food, adulteration and unhygienic food business practices under Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, the press note said.
The FDA’s Pune Division said inspections of restaurants, food chains and food delivery establishments would continue to help ensure safe and hygienic food for consumers.
