Pune: Financial Assistance Given To Families Of Workers Killed At Construction Site In Yerwada

Yerwada, 26 February 2022: The Maharashtra Government has given Rs 5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and injured workers respectively in the Yerwada construction site tragedy.

The workers lost their lives after the iron mesh for the construction of the basement of Blue Grass Business Park collapsed.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Labour Minister Hasan Mushrif had announced that the families of the deceased workers would be given immediate financial compensation.

Deputy Labour Commissioner Abhay Geete said the incident was very unfortunate. “After the incident, we immediately visited the site and sent the report of the incident to the state government. Financial assistance has been given to the families of the workers affected by this tragedy. We will take more precautions henceforth in favour of the workers”, he said.

The labour unions had met the Deputy Labour Commissioner and demanded that a case be registered against the contractor and the owner of the project.
