Pune: FIR against Minister Atul Save’s OSD for Attempt to Murder Wife, Assaulting Minor Son
Pune, 5th May 2026 : An offence has been registered in Pune against Vijay Dhulchand Karande, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to BJP leader and Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Maharashtra, Atul Save, on charges of attempting to murder his wife and assaulting his minor son.
According to police, the case has been filed at the Koregaon Park Police Station following a complaint lodged by his wife. The incident reportedly took place on April 30 at their residence in the Queens Garden area.
As per the complaint, the woman had questioned Karande about certain chats on his mobile phone and asked for its password. This allegedly enraged him, following which he began abusing her and assaulting her with a cricket bat. He is also accused of attempting to strangulate her.
When their young son intervened to protect his mother, Karande allegedly assaulted him as well with the bat, the complaint stated. Both the woman and the child later managed to escape from the house and approached the police.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against Karande under charges of attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, and criminal intimidation, and further investigation is underway.
Karande is currently on deputation in Mumbai as an OSD in the ministry, handling responsibilities related to OBC welfare and the energy department. The incident has once again brought the issue of domestic violence into focus.
