Pune: Firing After Clash Between Two Groups in Daund’s Patas, 3 Detained
Pune, 5th June 2026 : Tension gripped Patas village in Daund taluka on Friday afternoon after a dispute between two groups escalated into a violent clash and firing, prompting a large police response. Three suspects have been detained, while a search is underway for others who allegedly fled into nearby sugarcane fields.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when a group of youths from Kashti and another group from Patas got into an argument near the Pune-Solapur Highway. The verbal altercation soon escalated into a physical fight, with members of both groups allegedly assaulting each other and pelting stones.
Amid the clash, some youths allegedly pulled out a country-made pistol and fired three rounds. Preliminary reports suggest that shots were fired into the air as well as towards members of the rival group. No injuries or casualties were reported in the firing.
Sources said there had been an earlier dispute between the two groups, which was resolved after police intervention. However, the argument reportedly resumed after police personnel left the area, eventually leading to the firing incident.
On receiving information about the gunfire, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The incident had briefly created panic and tension in the locality.
Police have detained three suspects following a chase and recovered spent cartridges from the scene. Some of the suspects allegedly escaped into nearby sugarcane fields, following which police teams cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and identify all those involved in the incident.
