Five Arrested in Ambegaon Shooting Case

Katraj, 12th September 2026: Ambegaon police have arrested five men in connection with an alleged shooting in Ambegaon Budruk and seized three country-made pistols and four live cartridges from them, officials said on Saturday.

The accused were identified as Shivdatt alias Sonya Harikaka Kondre, 23, of Ambegaon Budruk; Shreyash Rupesh Kate, 23, of Dhayari Phata; Suraj Subhash Dimbale, 23, of Kalyan; Atish Umesh More, 28, of Ambegaon; and Ritvik alias Dagdu Pandurang Beldare, 24.

“The five accused were traced near Jambhulwadi using confidential information and technical analysis of their mobile-phone data. Three country-made pistols and four live cartridges were seized from their possession,” Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine of Ambegaon police station said.

According to police, the shooting occurred at around 1.30 am on September 5. The complainant’s son had parked his vehicle in the parking area of Haranai Complex at Bhendi Chowk in Ambegaon Budruk and was walking upstairs to his home when the accused allegedly confronted him over a previous dispute.

The accused allegedly abused the man and fired two rounds towards him with a country-made pistol in an attempt to kill him before fleeing with the weapon, police said. The press note did not provide details about any injuries sustained in the incident.

Ambegaon police registered a case under Sections 109(1), 189(2), 190, 191(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relevant provisions of the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act, and Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act. Police Sub-Inspector Yuvraj Shinde is investigating the case.

During the investigation, police gathered confidential information and conducted a technical analysis of the suspects’ mobile-phone numbers. The suspects were subsequently traced near the road adjoining Dakhan Hotel in Jambhulwadi, where they were taken into custody along with the firearms and ammunition, police said.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Rajesh Bansode, Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mohite and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rahul Aware.

The team included Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine, Police Inspector (Crime) Changdev Sajgane, Police Sub-Inspector Yuvraj Shinde and police personnel Chetan Gore, Hanmant Masal, Harish Gaikwad, Nilesh Jamdade, Avdhut Jamdade, Dhanaji Dhotre, Sachin Gade, Dnyaneshwar Chitte, Rakesh Tekawade, Pramod Bhosale, Nitin Katurde, Yogesh Jagdale, Ajay Kamthe, Subhash More, Shivaji Potole and Firoz Shaikh.

Further investigation into the shooting and the source of the seized firearms is underway.
