Pune flights suspended after Cyclone Nisarga hits the coasts

Pune, 3 June 2020 : As the Nisarga cyclone hits the Konkan, it has badly affected the Pune city. The airline services have been suspended at the Pune airport due to the cyclone impact. Several passengers are stuck at different airports who were about to take flight to Pune on Wednesday.

Two flights have already been diverted to Hyderabad and Surat, one flight has been cancelled. Kolkata-Pune diverted to Hyderabad, Bangalore-Pune return back to Bangalore and Nagpur-Pune also return back to Nagpur.

According to the information provided by Pune airport Director Kuldeep Singh, “SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Pune SG 8185 was scheduled to arrive at the airport at 10.50 am was diverted to Surat. Similarly, Alliance air flight 9I 867 from Hyderabad to Pune has returned back to Hyderabad and Vistara flight UK 971/972 Delhi-Pune-Delhi has been cancelled on Wednesday due to bad weather.”

After a gap of two months, the Pune airport had started its operations– with a few airline services. The number of departure passengers has been high as compared to arrival passengers. In last two days, 2,077 passengers have arrived by 33 flights and 3,854 passengers have departed from Pune airport by 32 flights.
