Pune, 6th June 202y: The Pune Special Court has recorded the testimonies of 35 witnesses in the case involving the brutal rape and murder of a 3.5-year-old girl in Nasrapur village of Bhor taluka, with strong forensic and DNA evidence pointing towards the accused, 65-year-old Bhimrao Prabhakar Kamble.

Forensic experts told the court that the accused’s skin was found lodged under the victim’s nails, while the child’s blood was detected on Kamble’s clothes. Special Public Prosecutor Ajay Misar on Friday presented compelling evidence before the court, including DNA analysis confirming that the victim was in the custody of the accused at the time of the crime and that he had sexually assaulted her. A witness also testified that the accused had committed an unnatural sexual act with an animal.

Medical reports submitted by the prosecution established that Kamble was sexually potent and mentally sound. The trial is being heard on a fast-track basis by Special Judge S.R. Salunkhe. The prosecution has presented substantial evidence, with medical and forensic laboratory reports emerging as crucial elements of the case.

After his arrest, Kamble was in police custody at Vadgaon police station when he voluntarily confessed to hiding certain articles related to the crime in a Ram temple in Nasrapur. However, owing to concerns over law and order and the safety of the accused, the police could not take him to the spot. Instead, investigating officers sent two panch witnesses to the location. Kamble guided them via video call to the exact spot where the items were hidden. The articles were seized and a detailed panchnama was prepared.

Special Public Prosecutor Ajay Misar proved this “virtual” seizure in court, telling the court that this was possibly the first instance in which a panchnama based on the accused’s statement was legally established using virtual technology.

The gruesome incident took place on May 1 in Nasrapur village. The child was subjected to sexual assault and unnatural offences before being brutally murdered. Kamble was booked by Rajgad police station in connection with the case.
