Bavdhan, 1st December 2025: A leopard was spotted near the Lantana Gardene on Pashan Road in Bavdhan shortly after midnight on December 1, prompting forest officials to conduct site verification to ensure public safety.

According to the Pune Forest Department, a resident managed to capture the animal on their mobile phone around 12.30 am. Teams visited the location and confirmed the sighting. No further movement has been recorded in the area since then.

Officials suspect the leopard was moving along the Ramnadi nala, which serves as a natural corridor connecting green patches in the region. Leopards are known to inhabit the hills around the National Defence Academy (NDA), which link to the forests in Mulshi, making such occasional sightings a possibility in the adjoining urban areas.

Neha Panchamiya, founder of RESQ which is assisting the forest department to capture the leopard, has appealed to citizens not to panic but remain cautious, especially during night hours. They urged the public to immediately report any direct and credible visuals to the Forest Department helpline 1926 or the RESQ helpline at 9172511100.

Further monitoring of the area is underway to track the animal’s movement and ensure the safety of locals.
