Pune: Former Security Guard Arrested For Stealing 250 Gm Gold Ornaments, Jeweller Who Bought Them Also Nabbed

Pune, 16 January 2021: The sleuths from the detection branch (DB) of Vimantal police station, Pune city police, have arrested a former security guard of a luxurious society for allegedly stealing 250 grams gold ornaments with the help of an accomplice. The cops have also arrested the jeweller who bought the stolen ornaments.

On 30 December last year, Saurabh Kundan, a resident of Nyati Evita in Lohegaon, along with his family went to Katraj to meet his father. They returned on the next day evening. After realising the theft of jewellery from the cupboard, he lodged a complaint with Vimantal police station, on 7 January.

Police registered the case against an unknown person and began the investigation. “Santosh alias Lara Kashinath Jadhav (35) of Porwal Road, Lohegaon, a former security guard of Nyati Evita Society, was interrogated based on technical and confidential information. He confessed the crime and told us that he broke into the house with his accomplice Santosh alias Rocky Arun Dhanwajir (34) of Nimbalkar Nagar, Lohegaon. He further confessed that he had sold the stolen jewellery to Ashok Ganeshlal Jani (54) of Shaniwar Peth, Satara”, said Senior Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar, in-charge of the police station.

Police have recovered 200 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh from the accused. The cops are conducting further investigations as the accused may have committed more such crimes.

The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (Zone 4) Pankaj Deshmukh, ACP (Yerwada division) Kishor Jadhav and Inspector Pawar. The team included Police Inspector (Crime) Mangesh Jagtap, PSI Hanumant Giri and police personnel Avinsh Shewale, Ashok Atole, Umesh Dhende, Ramesh Lohkare, Vishal Gade, Sanjay Adhari, Vinod Mahajan, Sachin Bhingardive, Nana Karche, Harun Pathan, Rahul More, Kiran Abdagire, Vaibhav Khare and Prashant Kapure.
