Pune: Former State Examination Council Commissioner, Shailaja Darade, Arrested for Fraud; 44 Victims Deceived in Job Scam

Pune, 7th August 2023: Shailaja Ramchandra Darade, the former Commissioner of Maharashtra State Examination Council, has been arrested on charges of orchestrating a job scam that ensnared 44 individuals who were promised employment opportunities.
A case has been lodged against her and her brother, Dadasaheb Ramchandra Darade (resident of Indapur), at Hadapsar police station in relation to this fraudulent scheme.
The case was brought forth by Popat Sukhdev Suryavanshi (residing in Khanjodwadi, Atpadi, Sangli).
The complainant, Popat, a teacher by profession, was attempting to secure a teaching job for his female relative. In June 2019, while searching for information across various avenues, Popat came across the accused, Dadasaheb Darade. Dadasaheb asserted that his sister, Shailaja Darade, a resident of Pashan, held a prominent role within the education department.
Allegedly, he promised assistance in securing teaching positions for two of Popat’s female relatives. Subsequently, Dadasaheb lured Popat into parting with Rs 27 lakhs, under the pretext of facilitating the employment. However, as time elapsed, the promised positions never materialized, prompting Popat to demand the return of his funds. However, the accused failed to honor this commitment, leaving Popat deceived and defrauded.
