Pune : Forum for IT Employees (FITE) demands safety for coming to office
Pune, August 5, 2019 : The Forum for IT Employees (FITE) Maharashtra, on Monday appealed Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram seeking direction to IT companies for safety of employees.“We would like to highlight the flood like situation which most IT employees have to face on Monday 5th Aug 2019 while travelling to office.
We have received your advisory on floods in Pune and schools and colleges being closed however there is no mention of 7-8 lakh IT employees who are working in and around IT parks in Pune and who have to travel extensively through narrow flooded under passes and over flowing rivers.
The IT companies have not given clear instructions to these employees which has put huge burden on them to risk their lives to reach offices on such flood like situation”, the letter states. It further added, “Requesting you to issue similar circular (attached herewith) for IT hubs area like Talawade, Hinjewadi and Magarpatta etc.
IT companies should hold the responsibility of safety of Employees.
Employees should be provided with transportation facilities by the companies and shouldn’t be forced to reach offices on their own to avoid any accidents. It is, therefore, request you to send advisory to IT companies to let go employees on priority so they are not stranded in heavy water lodged areas which is predicted looking at today’s rain and kind request to ensure safety of lakhs of IT employees.”
