Pune Foundation Opens Modelling Opportunities for Specially Abled Children Through Jewellery Photoshoot
Reported by Amit Singh
Pune, 16th October 2026: In an initiative to expand career opportunities for specially abled children, the Sukanya Ram Saxena Foundation organised a jewellery photoshoot at a showroom on JM Road in collaboration with Lucira Jewellery, giving children an opportunity to experience professional modelling and explore possibilities in the fashion and advertising industries.
The initiative aimed to highlight the potential of specially abled children beyond cultural programmes and stage performances, creating opportunities for them to participate in professional photoshoots, brand campaigns and commercial modelling.
The Foundation believes that children with disabilities should have access to career opportunities across industries, including fashion, advertising and brand promotions. The initiative was designed to explore how their participation in such professional assignments could lead to future work opportunities and financial independence.
Mona Singh, Regional President of the CRPF Wives Welfare Association (CWA), attended the event and encouraged the participating children.
Speaking about the initiative, Surabhii Aplesh, Founder and President of the Sukanya Ram Saxena Foundation, said the objective was to create opportunities that could help specially abled children pursue careers and become financially independent.
“Inclusion should not end with applause at a cultural event. Our children deserve opportunities that can lead to careers, financial independence and dignity. Why should modelling, advertising and brand campaigns be restricted to a particular definition of beauty or ability? Our children have talent, confidence and immense potential. What they need is acceptance and an opportunity to prove themselves,” Aplesh said.
She added that the Foundation wanted to encourage brands and businesses to consider specially abled individuals for professional assignments, including modelling, advertising and promotional campaigns.
The photoshoot received support from Lucira Jewellery, which hosted the children for the initiative, and Design Media, which provided professional photography services free of cost.
The Foundation aims to build on such initiatives to help specially abled children explore opportunities beyond cultural and recreational activities. Its broader mission, Redefining Normal, focuses on creating opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in different spheres of life, including education, employment and professional development.
