Pune: Fruit-Bearing Tree Plantation in 303 Model Schools Announced as Joint Project

Pune, 18th March 2025: In a landmark step toward environmental sustainability and community development, a large-scale fruit-bearing tree plantation project in 303 Model Schools has been officially declared, The project will be implemented in collaboration with the Forest Department, Pune, Zilla Parishad, Pune, and Loha Foundation. This initiative aims to create a sustainable and eco-friendly learning environment for students while promoting environmental awareness and improved nutrition.
The initiative was announced at the Punit Balan Group Apla Pune Cyclothon (Season 4). As a symbolic start to the project, the first sapling was presented to Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM GOC in C, Southern Command by N.R. Praveen IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF), and Ajit Pisal, Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), Zilla Parishad, Pune and Krishna Prakash (IPS), ADG Force One and Honorary Race Director of Apla Pune Cyclothon, in a special ceremony held during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, ADG Krishna Prakash said:
“This initiative reflects our deep commitment to fostering a greener and healthier future. planting fruit-bearing trees in schools will not only enhance the environment but also provide nutritional and educational benefits to students. Involving students in this green initiative will instill a sense of responsibility and environmental stewardship among them from a young age.”
The tree plantation project aims to:
• Promote environmental awareness conservation and sustainability. among students.
• Enhance the green cover in schools.
• Provide students with access to fresh fruits and a hands-on learning experience about sustainability and ecology.
• Increase green cover in Schools.
Senior officials from the Forest Department, Zilla Parishad, and Loha Foundation were present at the event, expressing their commitment to the successful execution of this initiative. The project is expected to positively impact thousands of students, fostering a healthier and more sustainable future.
