Sunanda Pawar, Trustee of the Agricultural Development Trust Baramati, announced that Bhimthadi Jatra will be held in Pune from December 21 to December 24, 2023.

The Agricultural Development Trust is a multifaceted organization that has been actively involved in agriculture, education, water conservation, training, women’s self-help groups, and women’s empowerment for the past five decades. One of its significant initiatives is the ‘Bhimthadi Jatra.’

The primary objective of Bhimthadi Jatra is to provide a rightful market platform for products crafted by women entrepreneurs and women’s self-help groups in rural areas. Pawar noted that this year marks the 17th edition of Bhimthadi Jatra and highlighted its inaugural presence.

The Bhimthadi fair has been instrumental in economically empowering thousands of women across the state, including Pune district. Pawar emphasized that the event has also contributed to boosting business confidence among women entrepreneurs.

The Bhimthadi Jatra will be organized under the auspices of the Agricultural Development Trust, Bhimthadi Foundation, and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Rahuri. The event will take place at Agriculture College ground in Shivajinagar (Sinchannagar) Pune from December 21st to December 24th, 2023.

This year’s fair introduces innovative attractions, featuring a unique concept that includes bulk grains (millet-nachni, ral, sava, bhagar, sama, varai), diversified products, goods from natural agriculture, and products from various processing industries. Notably, new women’s self-help groups will receive preferential admission this year.

Visitors to Bhimthadi Jatra can look forward to exploring the rich art and culture of Maharashtra, including performances by Gondhali, Potraj, Bharud, Patharwat, Burud, Kersoniwale, and Nandi bull artists. The event will also feature a rural food festival showcasing handicrafts created by women’s self-help groups, summer foods, spices, pickles, clothing, fruits, leafy vegetables, grains, pulses, and more. A total of 310 stalls will be allocated to women’s self-help groups and women entrepreneurs from across the country and the state.

The event will also include a select gallery featuring products from women across Maharashtra and other states, along with thematic galleries on the environment and messages of conservation. Information stalls on hydroponics farming, soilless farming, non-toxic leafy vegetables, kitchen gardens, fisheries, floristry, honey production, and more will be available.
