Pune Gears Up for ‘Chirp for Change’ to Save Disappearing Sparrows

Pune, 11th February 2025: Remember those cheerful little sparrows that once filled our mornings with their sweet chirping and cute child-like antics? Sadly, they’re almost disappearing from our cities, being victims of urbanisation, pollution, and absolute habitat destruction.
But all hope is not lost! This World Sparrow Day, let’s come together to protect these tiny yet vital creatures, and the love of our eyes.
Aarambh Foundation, Forengers, and Punekar News, along with several like-minded organisations, are hosting “Chirp for Change”—a special awareness event dedicated to sparrow conservation. Mark your calendars for 16th March 2025, 11:00 AM at One Place, FC Road, Pune.
Why Should We Care About Sparrows?
Sparrows aren’t just adorable little birds; they are an essential part of our ecosystem. By feeding on insects and worms, they help maintain nature’s balance. But their numbers have dwindled alarmingly due to shrinking green spaces, concrete jungles, and electromagnetic pollution from mobile towers. The good news is: with a concerted bit of effort, we can turn things around and bright back our furry little friends!
What’s Happening at ‘Chirp for Change’?
A very special event, it promises to be informative, engaging, and fun for nature lovers, bird lovers, families, and children alike. Here’s what’s in store:
