Pune, June 13, 2020: The sleuths from Crime Branch Unit 5 of Pune City Police have arrested a 30-year-old hotelier, who trapped women from wealthy families, as well as those working IT companies in a love affair and then extorted money from them after threatening to defame them. Cops nabbed him in a case registered with the Bibwewadi police station wherein he made a woman steal cash and ornaments, worth Rs 1.74 crores and hand it over to him, over the last one year.

The arrested accused has been identified as Aniket Surendra Bubane, a resident of Balajinagar in Dhankawadi. He is well-educated and engaged in the hotel business. We have recovered Rs 98.10 lakhs cash apart from Rs 1 crore which he had stolen last time. Also, a Duster car which he bought with the stolen money has also been seized. The efforts are going on for the recovery of remaining money.”

DCP Singh further said, “During interrogation, it has also come to light that accused Bubane has cheated many girls by befriending them through multiple dating websites, alluring them with the promise of marriage, and extorting them of cash or jewellery. Further investigation is going on to find out the role of any other person helping him in the crime. We urge victims to come forward and file a complaint against the accused.”

How was this Casanova arrested?

On May 31, a businessman had registered FIR with Bibwewadi police station complaining that ornaments and cash worth Rs 1.74 crores have been stolen from his house since the last year. He named a woman from the family for stealing the valuables with the help of her ‘boyfriend’.
