Global Charting artist Vineet finds a new creative home in Pune, inspiring a new single
Pune, 21st May 2025: World-record-making artist and author Vineet Singh Hukmani has released My New Home Pune, a bilingual single celebrating the city he now calls home.
Dropped on May 13, 2025, the track merges retro and contemporary sounds in a guitar-pop style, embodying Vineet’s growing admiration for Pune’s rich heritage and modern dynamism.
The multifaceted artist is positively charmed with his ‘…New Home, Pune, which he calls a haven for art & culture. When quizzed about his connection with the city, Vineet fondly reflects, “When I was running the FM radio business, we had radio stations in 7 cities. Pune was one of them and I found the city to be very endearing during my frequent visits. The global pace of my music career had been truly hectic and I needed to move to a place that allowed me to rediscover my music at my own pace. Pune has the same vibe as some smaller European cities, a constantly buzzing celebration of music, art, culture and cuisine all packaged in a perfectly sized city. This allows a comfortable connection with all that is happening around. People in Pune are very ‘with it’ and they take the time to appreciate the arts, apart from being very large-hearted and welcoming to a newcomer like me.”
Recognized for his groundbreaking presence in global music, Vineet has been a trendsetter for Indian independent English-language artists, with multiple Grammy submissions and chart-topping records on international platforms. He set a world record for being the first-ever artist in the world to have 9 number 1s in 2021 (on Euro Indie charts). His influence spans beyond music — his contributions to radio as the founder of India’s only international format English music station, Radio One, cement his status as a pioneer in the industry.
While discussing his musical approach and inspirations for My New Home Pune, the singer says, “I moved here with an open mind and an open heart. My neighbours and the people I met at various cultural events helped me feel at home. In fact, what truly touched me was that when I fell ill, every neighbour pitched in to help, including the doctors who were so friendly. I then decided to buy a home here and one fine morning, when the birds were chirping against some fine green trees, the song ‘My New Home Pune’ just came to me.”
The new track reflects Pune’s unique charm, blending Hindi and English lyrics to narrate Vineet’s personal experience of settling in a city that welcomes creativity and innovation. As an artist who thrives on pushing boundaries, he has consistently introduced immersive experiences — his multimedia book Nine, his superhero comic project RUN! RUN!
