Pune: Google to Assist PMPML in Implementing Intelligent Transport Management System
Pune, 16th April 2023: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) has announced that it will be issuing tickets online through an app, which is currently under development. Once the app is completed, Pune residents will be able to make online payments, purchase tickets, and access route information through PMPML’s app.
In line with the Digital India campaign, the PMPML administration has taken steps to provide online services to its customers. Recently, PMPML announced that it will be accepting ticket payments through an online payment app, which will be tested on an experimental basis in two Pune Darshan buses. If successful, this facility will be introduced in other buses.
Additionally, the PMPML website will be updated to provide various services online. The administration has also signed an agreement with Google to start the Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) facility, which will allow citizens to track the live location of buses and access route and timing information online.
The introduction of these digital services will greatly benefit Pune residents and improve the functioning of PMPML. However, the implementation of these services has faced opposition from employee unions and delays in planning, which has hindered digitization efforts in the past.
