Pune, 13th March 2023: About 32 government departments, including state government, semi-government, district council, revenue, municipal corporation, and others, have decided to go on an indefinite strike from Tuesday (14th March) for the demand of the implementation of the old pension scheme. About 68,000 officers and employees of the Pune district will go on strike.

The state government has stopped giving the benefit of the old pension scheme to the employees and officers who have joined the government service since 2005. Therefore, for the past several years, there has been a demand from various government organizations to implement the old pension scheme.

However, as the government continues to ignore this demand, the Central Union of State Government Employees has warned of an indefinite strike.

Maruti Shinde, District President of State Government Employees Central Association, informed that employees of about 32 departments, including school education, higher education, agriculture, cooperatives, prisons, health, sugar complex, Zilla Parishad, revenue, collector’s office, registration department, land records, municipality, non-teaching staff, RTO, and Asha workers, will participate in the strike.

Some demands have been made by the protestors like old pension scheme implementation, permanent employment of Anganwadi, Asha, and transfer employees, filed vacancies, equal pay for equal work with clerical cadre, the retirement age should be 60, women employees should be given benefits and concessions as per Center, and others.
