Pune: Green Marathon in Dhanori Draws Massive Participation; Minister Murlidhar Mohol Applauds Residents for Environmental Commitment
Dhanori, 8th December 2025: The Green Marathon organized in Dhanori witnessed an overwhelming response, with thousands of residents participating in the event aimed at promoting environmental awareness and community health. The initiative was jointly hosted by Mata Jijau Pratishthan, former corporator Anil alias Bobby Tingre, youth leader Vishal Tingre, and several social organisations.
Impressed by the turnout, Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol congratulated the citizens of Dhanori, calling the initiative a significant step toward environmental conservation.
Addressing participants, Mohol said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream is to build a developed, strong and healthy India by 2047.
“The Green Marathon held today in Dhanori is a part of this larger national vision. This event highlights crucial messages—environmental balance, conservation, and fitness. Over the past decade, initiatives like Fit India and Khelo India have strengthened the culture of sports across the country. The marathon organised by Anil Tingre is aligned with this mission,” Mohol stated.
He praised the participation of nearly 10,000 citizens, noting that such a massive turnout reflects the community’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
The marathon began at Dhanori Octroi Post, where Mohol flagged off the run. Participants—men and women across all age groups from 15 years and above—ran with enthusiasm along the designated route. The event concluded at Dhanori Van Udyan, where winners were felicitated with bicycles and cash prizes.

Several groups contributed to the success of the event, including Mata Jijau Pratishthan, Vruksha Seva Samiti, Green Avani Foundation, Lohegaon Residential Welfare Association, the Forest Department, and various local mandals and institutions from Dhanori, Kalas, and Lohegaon.
The programme was anchored by Raju Kulkarni and concluded with a symbolic tree plantation drive at Dhanori Van Udyan, reinforcing the event’s core message of environmental sustainability.
