Pune: Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil Reviews Water Supply Projects
Pune, 3rd December 2022: District Guardian Minister and State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, on Friday, reviewed the measures taken by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to control water consumption in the city.
The meeting discussed the water quota approved by the Municipal Corporation, the previous year’s water source-wise daily water consumption, water budget, water purification centres, water supply projects, tanks, pipelines, work progress and planning, and water meter installation work progress and planning.
Patil ordered municipal officials to ensure that clean water is not used for construction and gardens. He also said that old pipelines should be replaced to stop water leakage, works to prevent leakages should be completed immediately by increasing the number of staff members, and water leakages in societies should be repaired immediately.
Patil also gave a clear order that the PMC should complete all other works of water supply within the stipulated time frame and pay special attention to ensure there is no delay. He announced that water scheme works will be reviewed every month.
Patil said that the Municipal Corporation should work efficiently to complete the works of the water tanks by September 2023 and the work of water channels by June 2024, within the stipulated time frame. The Equal Water Supply Project will increase water storage capacity to 33 per cent and provide equal water supply to all.
He also reviewed the flyover work on Sinhagad Road. Funds will be made available if any changes are required in the plan so that there is no inconvenience to the citizens. He also suggested that alternative roads should be provided for citizens and encroachments should be removed.
