Pune: Guardian Minister Directed To Find Out Reasons For Accidents And To Take Necessary Precautions On New Katraj Tunnel And Navale Bridge

Pune, 25th November 2022: Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil directed that the reasons for the accidents occurring between New Katraj Tunnel and Navale Bridge should be found, and necessary measures should be taken immediately to avoid accidents in the future.

 

A meeting of the District Level Road Safety Committee was held in Pune under the chairmanship of Patil at the new rest house. MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, Sangram Thopte, Pune City Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ayush Prasad, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, NHAI Project Director Sanjay Kadam, PMRDA Superintending Engineer Bharat Kumar Baviskar, Save Life Foundation Roshan Josh, and others were present.

 

Patil said, “It is necessary to put up signs on the road to warn the motorists before entering the slope on this highway. Arrangements should be made to issue notices at road check posts. There should be separate lanes for big and small vehicles on the road, for this, there should be signs and boards for vehicles like trucks, cars, and others.”

As the traffic is increasing along with the population, necessary future planning should be done accordingly. All the departments should coordinate the work without raising the issue of boundaries. The approved works in the previous plan should be completed on a priority basis. A skywalk should be constructed on the Navale bridge for passengers. He also ordered that encroachments on both sides of the road should be removed.

 

In the meeting, the accidents that occurred in the limits of Pune Rural Police, as well as Pune City and Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate in the last two years and the measures taken accordingly, were reviewed. The measures taken accordingly and the reduction in the number of accidents were discussed.

 

Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh gave information about the accidents that occurred on this highway during the period from 2018 to 2022 and the measures taken. On this occasion, Roshan Josh of Save Life Foundation gave information about the measures taken regarding road safety through a presentation.

 

Officials of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Zilla Parishad, Police Department, PMPML, Disaster Management, Health Department, Transport Corporation, and Regional Transport Department were present in the meeting.
