Pune: Gutkha Worth Rs 11 Lakh Seized In Lonavala

Lonavala, 7th February 2023: The Pune rural police have started action against the illegal sale and transport of Gutkha. The local crime branch (LCB) of rural police has arrested two persons along with the truck driver who was transporting Gutkha in the Lonavala area.

In this operation, the police seized Gutkha, as well as trucks, totally worth Rs 24.67 lakh.

DySP Satyasai Karthik of Lonavala Division, Police Inspector of LCB Avinash Shilimkar received information that a truck from Karnataka is coming near Kusgaon village in the Lonavala area and that there is a stock of Gutkha in the truck.

After that, a police team raided there and checked the truck. Gutkha pods packed in sacks were found in the truck. Police seized 342 sacks full of Gutkha, as well as a truck.

In this case, truck driver Mohammad Khalil Jamal Ahmed Sheikh (40), a resident of Lalgiri, Bahampur, district Gulbarga, Karnataka, Nasruddin Burhansaab Khadkhade (35), a resident of Khadkhad Galli, Dubalgudi, district Bidar, Karnataka has been detained.

Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar, Assistant Inspector Mahadev Shelar, Sub Inspector Shubham Chavan, Prakash Waghmare, Yuvraj Bansode, Amol Shendge, etc carried out this action under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, Additional Superintendent Mitesh Ghatte, DySP Satyasai Karthik.
