Pune: Gym Trainers Arrested After Man Killed at Charholi Phata Shop
Charholi, 14th August 2025: A 25-year-old man was allegedly killed inside a protein products shop at Charholi Phata on Wednesday by a gym trainer and her colleague, following claims that he had harassed the woman at the store a day earlier.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Pimpri Chinchwad, Bapu Bangar, said, “After the incident, the woman, aged 22, and her 25-year-old colleague voluntarily reported to the Dighi police station.”
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vishal Hire confirmed that both accused are gym trainers who co-run the protein shop. “The victim, identified as Gopinath alias Lalla Varpe, had visited the shop on Tuesday and verbally abused the woman,” Hire said.
According to Hire, Varpe returned to the shop on Wednesday evening, allegedly creating a disturbance and abusing the woman again. “Angered by his behavior, the two individuals reportedly struck him with iron rods inside the shop. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” Hire added.
A Dighi police officer noted that preliminary investigations indicate the woman and Varpe were previously acquainted, but she had ceased communication with him about eight months ago. “The harassment appears to have started on Tuesday,” the officer said.
Police have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the duo, and further investigations are underway.
