Pune: Hadapsar Railway Station to Get Improved Access as PMC Plans Road Widening

Mundhwa, 23rd May 2025: In a bid to ease the burden on Pune Railway Station, the Railway Administration has undertaken the expansion of Hadapsar Railway Station. Once completed, several trains will either originate from or terminate at this station. However, the narrow approach roads pose a serious challenge for traffic flow and commuter convenience.
To address this issue, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated plans to widen three key roads leading to Hadapsar Station. The Road Department of PMC recently conducted an inspection based on a request from the Railway Administration.
“The development plan includes widening these roads, but they currently measure only 9 to 12 meters in width. Land acquisition will be necessary to carry out the work,” said Aniruddha Pawaskar, Head of PMC’s Road Department.
Roads Identified for Widening:
Tadigutta Chowk to Hadapsar Railway Station: As per the development plan, this road should be 30 meters wide. However, only a 9-meter-wide road exists at present. No land has yet been acquired for the widening, and it remains unclear whether existing constructions have left the required setback. A survey will be conducted to verify this.
Kodre Hospital (Mundhwa) to Hadapsar Railway Station: This road is proposed to be 24 meters wide, but currently measures just 9 to 10 meters. Land acquisition is necessary to meet the proposed specifications.
Hadapsar Station to Mundhwa Railway Crossing Bridge (700 meters): This stretch also ranges from 9 to 12 meters in width. However, since the adjoining land belongs to the railways, the road can be developed quickly if the Railway Administration grants access. “The PMC is prepared to develop this particular road immediately, while acquisition will be needed for the other two,” Pawaskar added.
