Pune: Heavy Traffic Jams On University And Baner Roads
Pune, 1st February 2023: A massive traffic jam was witnessed on University road and Baner road again.
Talking about the matter on Twitter, MLA Siddhart Shirole stated, “Massive traffic Jam on Baner – University Rd, #Pune. While I am working with the admin and #PUMTA on several solutions that will help reduce everyday congestion in the long term, but currently, the team and I are trying to determine the cause of today’s congestion. Do share inputs.”
Many Punekars took to the comment section to put forth their opinions, suggestions, and advice. The major reasons that stood out in the comments are the metro work and road closures made for it. “Metro work has made the Baner road small…The earlier flyover is needed,” one tweet read. “Overhead Metro has eaten up a couple of lanes; it should have been underground on busy roads. Anyway, nothing can be done about it now. Consider this on new metro routes at least please, even if it is costly because it is going to be there forever,” another citizen stated.
Another person said, “I would suggest Pune, being a major IT hub and known as Oxford of the East, must have a few institutions that can simulate, analyse the traffic flows and offer options on how to regulate it.”
Meanwhile, citizens have raised concerns about the additional time they take to reach their workspaces and institutes due to the traffic on these roads. They put forth their request for wider roads and more convenient road re-routes.
