Pune: Hinjawadi Woman Engineer Cheated of Rs 39.6 Lakh in Job Scam
Pune, 19th April 2023: A 33-year-old woman engineer working in Hinjawadi has been cheated of Rs 39.6 lakh in a job scam. The incident took place between April 6 and 14 in Old Sangvi.
The accused lured the woman by offering a job and giving her a task to solve on her mobile phone. The accused promised to pay the engineer for completing the task and asked for the engineer’s bank account number to make the payment.
Initially, the accused deposited Rs 400 in the engineer’s account, convincing the engineer that the job was legitimate. However, the accused continued to demand money from the engineer on various accounts, asking her to complete more tasks. The engineer paid the money into the accused’s account for three weeks but realized she had been cheated when she didn’t receive any money in return.
The engineer then went to the Sangvi police station to report the fraud. A case has been registered against the bank account holders from Borivali, Kalyan, and Chembur, as well as Sanvi Rathod, Arjun Chopra, who sent a link on the Telegram app.
Police Inspector Sunil Tambe of Sangvi Police Station is investigating the case. The accused has not been identified yet.
