Pune: Home Minister Anil Deshmukh gives Rs 1 lakh to Shanta Pawar, offers govt help
Hadapsar, 25 July 2020: Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh today met 85-year-old Shanta Balu Pawar, whose lathi fighting skills video has gone viral on social media. Deshmukh gave her clothes and Rs one lakh at her residence in Vaiduwadi, Hadapsar.
Shantabai Pawar showed that she is healthy even at this age by performing various fighting skills in front of the minister. Hadapsar MLA Chetan Tupe was also present along with local residents in large numbers.
Deshmukh said, “Aji works to run the family even at this age. She will be given benefits under government schemes.”
The minister also lauded ‘Bharosa Cell’ of the Pune Police Commissionerate. So far more than 15,000 senior citizens have been assisted in various ways by ‘Bharosa Cell’. He also said that efforts would be made to provide more help through the police department.
