Pune: Hosts SNBP Academy impress with huge Win
PUNE, 2st October 2023: Hosts SNBP Academy began their campaign in style with a huge 9-0 win over Olympian Bhaskaran Hockey Academy on the second day of the 7th SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament (Boys’ Under-16) at the Shiv Chhatrapathi Sports Complex, Balewadi here on Monday.
The other winners of the day included R.K Roy Academy who were left waiting as their opponents SAIL Hockey Academy called-off owing to their ongoing zonal fixtures back home.
Other teams to post wins were Dhyanchand Academy who locked a huge 18-0 win over Mumbai-based Ryan Institute, Flicker Brothers Hockey Academy also scored an easy 11-0 win over Grassroot Hockey, while in a late Sunday encounter Regional Development Centre fought off Smart Hockey Academy 6-3. Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) also had it easy posting a 11-1 victory over Tata Steel Foundation.
At the end of the day, 5 matches produced 50 goals!
SNBP Academy playing their first match in Pool-D had it easy with Akash Patel (3rd – p.c; 26th), Shubham Rajbhar (11th, 18th), Kundan Routh (22nd, 42nd) and Bishnu Koley (25th; 48th) netting a brace each, while Kumar Patel (19th) completed the scorers list.
In Pool-A, Dhyanchand Academy were led by the day’s top-scorer Kallu Ali (22nd, 23rd, 26th, 28th) made hay against Ryan Institute, who lost their second match and exit the tournament. Amit Baa (2nd) opened the scoring converting a penalty corner before Mithalesh Yadav (4th, 12th); Jitin (8th, 10th), skipper Tushar Sharma (15th, 21st, 24th), Abdul Kadeer (19th, 34th), Abhishek Kujur (20th),Ritesh Pandey (39th, 40th) and Avaneesh Patel (48th) completed the tally.
Later, Pool-F had Flicker Bothers Hockey Academy show collective effort through Keshav (15th, 52nd); Dev Gupta (20th, 36th) and Sourav (44th, 47th – p.c) who netted a double each, while Kamalpreet Singh 39th; Nitin 40th; Sahil Kumar 42nd – p.c; Manish 57th; Sanjot Singh 59th – p.c) themselves struck to add on the score list and complete a huge win over Grassroots Hockey.
