Pune: Housing Society In Viman Nagar Saves Rs 45 Lakh Annually With New Solar Power Initiative

Viman Nagar, 28th September 2024: Rohan Mithila 1 Co-operative Housing Society in Viman Nagar, Pune, has taken a pioneering step toward sustainability with the installation of a cutting-edge 270 kWp solar plant. The project, implemented by Swid Solar in partnership with Tata Power Solar, positions the society as a leader in green energy adoption, delivering both environmental benefits and significant financial savings.
The newly installed solar system is expected to generate approximately 3.5 lakh units of clean electricity annually, enabling the society to cut its electricity expenses by as much as 80%. This shift to renewable energy is projected to save Rohan Mithila between ₹40 lakh and ₹45 lakh each year, making it a transformative move for both the community and the environment.
Society President Sudhakar Auti, Secretary Reshma Vaykar, and Treasurer Yogesh Aggarwal played key roles in championing this initiative, ensuring the project was executed with long-term sustainability in mind. One of the most remarkable aspects of the solar installation is its payback period—less than three years. After that, the society will continue to benefit from reduced energy costs, securing a future of economic and environmental resilience.
Beyond the impressive financial savings, Rohan Mithila’s decision to go solar is a strong statement about the importance of environmental responsibility. By reducing its carbon footprint, the society is actively contributing to the fight against climate change, highlighting how local initiatives can have a global impact.
“Investing in solar energy is not just a smart financial decision; it’s a crucial step towards building a sustainable future,” remarked Society President Sudhakar Auti. “Our goal is to inspire other communities to adopt similar initiatives and realize the long-term benefits of renewable energy.”
