Pune, 20th August 2022: To protect the environment and maintain its balance, the Sikh Helpline Foundation has implemented a social activity on the occasion of Independence Day to celebrate 75 Years of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

‘A Plastic-Free Taljai Hill’ campaign was implemented on August 15.

This campaign received a spontaneous response from Taljai lovers. Jyoti Mulundkar Group, Swanandi Family and Group, Taljai Yoga Group, Hemant Bhandari Group, Major Sir Academy Group, Diamond Group Students and Shantaram Sonwane and his team, as well as Taljai Family, were also actively involved in the campaign which was carried out on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Sikh Helpline Foundation President Raj Singh informed that the main objective of this initiative is to make society realise the benefits of a plastic-free environment. This time a large amount of plastic bags were shot.

For this drive, considering all the possible dangers of Monsoon, Singh informed that they introduced a three-foot-long stick with a hook attached to it, so one does not have to step into gushes or thick grass to pick up the waste. 100 garbage bags were collected by the volunteers under this drive.

Raj also informed that a pledge was taken at Taljai Hill with the volunteers holding the national flag. The pledge was to promise to use minimum plastic and to clean more places like Taljai Hills in the vicinity of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

On this occasion, the members of Rotary Club Pune for East Vanita Mehta, Nutan Khandelwal, Rekha Ashar, Rachna Shah, and Shilpa Mehta participated in the event.

“There are more than 20 hills in the vicinity of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and our vision here is to set an example for the entire country that the city’s beautiful hills can be protected and made plastic-free if the citizens have the right intent,” stated Singh.
