Pune: Illegal Hoarding of Hospital at Khed Shivapur Demolished; Six Illegal Sheds, Two Compound Walls Also Removed on Bhugaon–Ghotawade Phata Road
Pune, 19th May 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on Tuesday intensified its crackdown against illegal hoardings and road encroachments by removing an unauthorised billboard at Khed Shivapur and carrying out a joint anti-encroachment drive between Bhugaon and Ghotawade Phata in Haveli taluka.
Officials from PMRDA’s unauthorised construction removal department demolished an illegal hoarding erected by Max Neuro Hospital on Survey No. 114 at Khed Shivapur, stating that the structure had been installed without obtaining the required permissions.
In another operation, PMRDA and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) jointly conducted a road encroachment removal drive along the Bhugaon to Ghotawade Phata stretch. During the action, authorities removed encroachments obstructing the roadway, including six illegal tin sheds constructed along the roadside. Two compound wall structures extending into the road area were also demolished. Officials further seized 10 small unauthorised advertisement boards that were causing obstruction to traffic movement.
The action was carried out on the instructions of PMRDA Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari and under the guidance of Additional Commissioner K. Manjulaxmi. The drive was led by Himmat Kharade, in-charge joint commissioner of the unauthorised construction removal department, along with tehsildars Asha Holkar, Ravindra Ranjane and their teams.
Kharade said similar strict action against encroachers and illegal hoarding owners would continue in the future as part of PMRDA’s ongoing enforcement campaign.
Chaudhari appealed to citizens and commercial establishments not to erect unauthorised hoardings or encroach upon road areas within PMRDA limits. He said stricter action would be taken against violators and reiterated that obtaining prior permission from PMRDA before installing any hoarding is mandatory. He added that the authority has simplified the permission process for the convenience of citizens.
