Pune: Illegal Liquor Stock Worth Rs 48 Lakh Seized At Urse Tollbooth On Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Urse, 28th January 2023: While inspecting the vehicles in the limits of Urse village on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the vehicles illegally transporting Goa-made liquor were detained and liquor worth Rs 47.52 lakh was seized from them.

Charan Singh Rajput, Superintendent of the Pune Division of State Excise Department said that two vehicles were also seized and a total of Rs 63 lakhs worth of goods were seized.

Gamit Somvelbhai Singabhai (25) and Mohan Dinram Khathat (34) have been arrested in this case. The department had received information that illegal liquor was being transported near Pathkar Nayak within the limits of Urse, taluka Maval, district Pune on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway.

Accordingly, a trap was laid in this area and the container was inspected. From this, 43,200 bottles (900 boxes) of Royal Blue Malt Whiskey 180 ml, and a six-wheeler container, were seized.
