Pune: Illegal Religious Structures Razed by PCMC During Overnight Demolition Drive Across Chikhali, Kudalwadi Areas
Pimpri Chinchwad, 11th May 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation on Sunday carried out a demolition drive against unauthorised constructions in Chikhali, Kudalwadi and Jadhavwadi areas under the civic body’s ‘K’ ward office jurisdiction.
A senior official confirmed that the action began on the intervening night between Sunday and Monday, and it continued until the morning. Four unauthorized religious structures were demolished in the action, sources have confirmed.
According to civic officials, four illegal structures spread across 4,336.28 sq ft were removed during the operation. The action targeted unauthorised tin sheds, brick structures and RCC constructions at multiple locations, including the stretch between Visawa Chowk and the police chowky in Kudalwadi, areas near Jadhavwadi Road, and near the Kudalwadi police chowky. Illegal structures on Savata Mali Mandir Road in Jadhavwadi were also demolished.
The drive was conducted under the guidance of PCMC commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi and Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey.
The operation involved a large deployment of civic and police personnel, including 12 deputy engineers, four junior engineers, 24 beat inspectors from the building permission department, employees from the civic body’s action squads, around 1,200 police personnel and officers, and 218 MSF personnel.
Authorities also deployed 10 poclain machines, 10 JCBs, 50 labourers, three fire brigade vehicles and two ambulances for the drive. Officials and staff from the electricity distribution company also participated in the operation.
“Citizens should avoid carrying out any unauthorised constructions in Pimpri Chinchwad city. The municipal corporation will continue to take strict action against illegal structures. Residents should cooperate with the planned development of the city by following the law,” commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi said.
