Pune: Infosys IT engineer commits suicide in Wakad today
Pune, April 28, 2020: A 28-year-old techie allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the 12th floor of his building in Wakad today. The incident took place around 2 pm. He worked as Senior Systems Engineer with Infosys.
Wakad police station officials identified the deceased as Prasoon Kumar Jha, a native of Darbhanga in Bihar, who resided at Laurel Society in Wakad. Senior Police Inspector Dr Vivek Mugalikar said that Jha worked with IT giant Infosys in Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi. He has been living in Wakad area for the last few years.
Police officials said that after getting call about the incident police team rushed to the spot. The body has been taken to hospital for medical investigation. The exact cause of the suicide is not yet known. Wakad police are conducting further investigation.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, there is lockdown, most of the offices are closed and people are doing work from home. Only a few percent of employees are going to offices who are engaged in critical infrastructure work.
Across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas, there are restrictions on movement people and vehicle due to the growing number of COVID19 in Pune district. Since today morning some relaxations have been given in PCMC areas where there are few Coronavirus positive cases.
