Pune, 28th November 2022: As soon as the monsoon ended, sand smuggling began at the river bed. When the Revenue Department received this information, the action was taken on Sunday (November 27) night around 11.30 pm. It is the second action this year. Earlier on August 5, the action was taken in Shivane during heavy rains.

Haveli tehsildar Trupti Kolte received the information that sand has been extracted in the river bed at Vadgaon Khurd in the Mutha river. Accordingly, when she reached the riverbed with her colleagues on Sunday, the sand was removed by the JCB. The excavated sand was screened in a sieve in the tractor trolley. On seeing the Tehsildar’s car, the driver left the vehicle and ran away. A JCB and a tractor trolley were seized along with the sieve.

Unauthorised sand mining vehicles and tools were handed over to Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Jadhav of Sinhagad Police Station at this place. Tehsildar Trupti Kolte informed that the names of the JCB owner and the tractor owner will be known from the number of the vehicles, after which the Revenue Department will take penal recovery action. In this way, if anyone is doing unauthorised sand extraction or mining, she appealed to contact the Tehsildar office.

Second, during the Covid-19 pandemic, sand extraction was going on at night in many places, from Khadakwasla to Warje in the Mutha river bed. It has been done at Shivane, Kondhve Dhavande, and Kopare.

Earlier, after getting information about the incident, Haveli Tehsildar Trupti Kolte-Patil and Mandal Officer Pramod Bhand visited the location three to four times and inspected it. At that time, nothing was found at the scene. After that, sand mining continued again.
