Pune, 21st November 2023: Pune Joint Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Karnik, is set to assume the role of Police Commissioner in Nashik following an official order issued by the Maharashtra state government on Tuesday. The reshuffling of key positions also involves the transfer of Nashik Police Commissioner Ankush Shinde to the prestigious position of Special Inspector General of Police within the VIP Security Division of the State Intelligence Department (SID).

This move marks a significant transition for Karnik, who took on the role of Pune Joint Commissioner of Police in April 2022. His predecessor, Ravindra Shisve, had been transferred to the State Human Rights Commission in Mumbai, paving the way for Karnik’s tenure in Pune. Karnik brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously served as the Superintendent of Pune Rural.

On the other hand, Ankush Shinde, the outgoing Police Commissioner of Nashik, had previously held the position of Police Commissioner in Pimpri Chinchwad. His transfer to the Special Inspector General of Police role in the VIP Security Division represents a new chapter in his distinguished career.

Interestingly, the current Joint Commissioner of Police in Pune remains undisclosed, and the official announcement of this appointment is still pending. The secrecy surrounding this decision adds an element of anticipation to the unfolding changes within the police leadership in Pune.
